The people of the District of Purulia have a great faith upon Rotary Club of Purulia and they expect that it will go on extending quality services to the community.

Purulia covers an area of 6259 sq. km. with a population of around 28 lakhs as per the census of 2001. Out of which 89.93% resides in rural areas and 10.07% in urban areas. For this population there are one District Hospital (506 beds), one Sub-Divisional Hospital, one mental hospital, one Rural Hospital, 15 BPHC, 53 PHC and 485 Sub Centres. Beside this, there are 11 registered private hospitals or nurshing homes in the district. But there is no specialized hospital to deal with the need of the people. People have to move Jamshedpur, Dhanbad, Ranchi or Durgapur which are around 100 kms.

With a vision to cater to the needs of the community Rotary Club of Purulia Charitable Trust is constructing a Multi-Speciality Hospital adjustend to its eye hospital at Purulia. This project will be another step to tap the untouched medical problems in this region. This new Multi-Speciality Hospital, alike the two eye hospitals of Rotary Club of Purulia, will provide “Quality Service at Subsidized Charges”.

The new hospital will include the below amenities in two phases:

  • OPD for Ophthalmology, Orthopaedic & General medicine.
  • Advance Ophthalmology Unit with Diabetic Retinopathy
  • Dialysis Unit
  • Laparoscopy Unit
  • Physiotherapy Unit
  • Modern Operation Theatre
  • Modern Diagnosis Centre
  • Medicine & Spectacle shops
  • Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
  • Intensive Critical Care Unit (ICCU)
  • Intensive Treatment Unit (ITU)

We the Rotarians of Rotary Club of Purulia dream to provide advanced medical treatment for the people of Purulia in near future. Rotary Club of Purulia, through this hospital, will directly relate itself to increase Special Health Care facilities for the people of Purulia and adjacent areas, especially for those who cannot afford the quality treatment.

The mission of our new Multi-Speciality Hospital is to provide quality health services and facilities for the community, to promote wellness, to relieve suffering and to restore health as swiftly, safely, and humanely as it can be done, consistent with the best service we can give at the highest value for all concerned.

RC Purulia has taken up a massive work. A huge fund is required for constructing the building and purchasing equipments for the multi-speciality hospital. Thus we seek support from people of every aspect of life and in every possible ways to complete this herculean task for the community. The construction work of our new hospital is in full swing and almost 60% of G+2 building has been completed. We have received support from few bighearted eminent personalities of Purulia.
